About
Gini means wine
As for most Armenians, wine was a natural, mystical part of my upbringing. When you live surrounded by mountains, you can't help but feel that the world is much bigger than you are. These lands have seen empires rise and fall, but the traditions that began here continue to this day.
Winemaking is an ancient art in the region. It is entangled into the very fabric of life, and its methods remain preserved among the local wineries. Of course we have fancy bottles, but for many - wine from a plastic carton picked up from a local winery is just as good!
Wine is a testament to our ancient culture, our traditions and the warmth one feels whilst sitting around a table with family and friends. I started Gini Noir to share that sense of mystery, culture, history and love with you.

Story
How it all started
It all started with a passion for wine that I wanted to share with friends and family. I soon realised that few people knew about the ancient roots of winemaking and how it originated in the South Caucasus region. Archaeologists have discovered the oldest wine making facility in Armenia, along with grape residue in clay jars in Georgia, and signs of grape domestication in eastern Turkey – all dating back to the time between 8000 B.C. and 4100 B.C.
At Gini Noir, we source quality wines from Armenia and Georgia, as well as providing an opportunity for our customers to learn more about their history, master their tasting skills and even go on bespoke wine tours of Armenia & Georgia. We also offer virtual experiences, that you can enjoy with your household.

We strongly believe in supporting those, who keep the ancient art of winemaking alive.
Our support
Due to a current humanitarian crisis in the region, caused by the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, all proceeds will be donated to the All Armenian Humanitarian relief fund. At Gini Noir, we believe that peace can be achieved and we must all work hard to support those in need.
Our wines
Our wines are sourced directly from local wineries and factories. These wines are not easy to get hold of in the UK, but we are constantly working with our suppliers to bring more variety to you
